CockpitDial replaces the Sport Chrono clock with a round AMOLED display showing real data from the car: revs, oil pressure, temperatures, g-force and OBD diagnostics. It plugs into the original pod connector and is 100 % reversible.

A minute and a half of the actual firmware driving a virtual 997.2: revs and shift lights, oil pressure with the minimum it hit mid-corner, g-force, the corner counter, fault codes, the over-rev report — and the app, live against the same car. Nothing here is a mock-up: every frame is the display's own framebuffer.
Recorded from the development simulator — the same firmware that runs on the pod, drawn on a desktop backend instead of the AMOLED panel and reading a virtual 997.2. It has not been filmed in a real car yet, and the firmware UI is still in Spanish, the development language. No sound.
The Sport Chrono pod is the best spot on the dashboard… occupied by the instrument nobody uses. CockpitDial is a puck that carries a 466×466 AMOLED display inside the original housing and wires it to the car.

It plugs into the pod's original connector with our own loom: no cut wires, no splices. Plastic trim tool plus a Torx T10, 10–30 minutes.
It reads the display bus that already reaches the pod (revs, temperatures, oil pressure, time, lights) and adds OBD diagnostics over Bluetooth LE the moment you plug in an adapter — an optional one you buy yourself, around €90.

Pixel-perfect, literally
Every dial is verified pixel by pixel against the real hardware: 15 screens compared automatically between the design and the physical AMOLED panel, matching down to 0.000 % difference. When we say a dial looks like this, it's the panel saying it — not a mock-up. No rival publishes anything like that.

The signal the 997's cluster never shows you: real oil pressure, next to oil and coolant temperatures. With the corner min-hold: the lowest the pressure dipped while over 0.4 g lateral, held on screen.

2. Being in the EU cuts both ways, and we're not going to pretend otherwise: if you're in the UK or the US, a parcel from Spain goes through your customs like any other import, and 997chrono (UK) or 997research (US) is the local one. We plan to deduct EU VAT at checkout for orders outside the EU so you're not taxed twice, but the import charges at your end are yours.

The unit already has Bluetooth LE inside, so there is nothing to upgrade and nothing to unlock with us: plug an adapter in and the last three dials appear — same display, same firmware, same price. Some dials are still in development (see what it does); this split tells you which data source a dial lives on, not its release date. The price is just below.
The pod is a round 466×466 panel — the very same format as a smartwatch. So on top of our own 14 dials you can load any round watchface: pick from the thousands of free designs the smartwatch community already makes (the kind of galleries you find with Facer, WatchMaker or the free-watchface sites), or upload your own — through the app or a card. No rival on this dashboard offers that.
Illustrative examples of third-party watchface styles — a round panel is a standard format, with no proprietary lock-in. How you load and manage them (community galleries and your own uploads) is part of the app, on the roadmap.
The dashboard lives in the pod and works on its own. The app is the screwdriver: pair the display, set units and thresholds, read and clear fault codes, and reorder or upload your own dials — parked, with time to spare. Native on iOS and Android — and no longer just a design: both apps already run against the virtual development car (real captures below).

The wire protocol is locked and verified — the same 56 contract vectors pass byte for byte on iOS and on Android — and both apps already talk to the virtual development car: live telemetry with a source and an age on every value, fault codes read and cleared with a two-step confirmation, and the over-rev report. In development, not yet published.

Yes, with no prior experience: lever the pod out with a plastic trim tool (4 clips), undo 4 Torx T10 screws, swap the clock for the puck and plug it back in. Between 10 and 30 minutes. A step-by-step guide with photos and video is coming.
The first version needs the pod. For cars without one we're developing a standalone variant on a vent mount next to the A pillar: 100 % reversible and tool-free. There is also the original pod retrofit, but that means cutting the dashboard — we'll document it as a "pro" guide only, not as the standard route.
No, on purpose: dashboard heat shortens the life of lithium cells dramatically. It runs off the pod connector, with automotive electrical protection, and its parked draw is minimal.
Sunlight is problem number one for this whole product category. We use a high-brightness AMOLED panel (~700 cd/m², more than twice a typical IPS) with a true black background, which helps a lot with reflections. Day/night auto-dim is already in the firmware: it drops the brightness only when the headlights are on and the sun sensor agrees, so it never dims on you mid-corner. We won't promise miracles in direct summer sun: nobody can deliver them.
It's a reversible accessory that touches no safety system: bus reading is passive and OBD diagnostics use the same standard requests as any workshop tool. And if you'd rather turn up to an MOT, TÜV/HU or state inspection with a factory car, refitting the original clock takes minutes.
Only a Bluetooth LE OBD adapter, and only for part of it. Without any adapter you already get 11 of the 14 dials: revs, speed, oil temperature and pressure, coolant, the clock, the g-meter and the rest all arrive through the pod connector, off the car's own display bus. Adding an adapter switches on the other three — fault codes (DTC), the over-rev report and the trip computer — plus richer engine data: boost, loads, sensors and battery voltage. Every unit ships OBD-ready, with that firmware already inside and at no extra cost: there is nothing to unlock or upgrade with us.
We don't sell it: it isn't in the box and we don't ship it. You buy it yourself, once, and it's around €90 — for example at obd-partner.nl, and it's also on Amazon and other EU shops (price checked August 2026). Buy this exact model: OBDLink CX, the Bluetooth LE one. Not a €15 clone: those say yes to every request and then hand back numbers they made up, and with oil pressure on the screen an invented number is not a cosmetic bug. The CX is the adapter we build and test against — its maker publishes how to talk to it, which no clone does — so it's the one we can support. Note it's a third party's product: its price, warranty and support are theirs, not ours.
The Sport Chrono clock is an active module on the car's bus, and removing it means the cluster can notice it's gone. We're working on emulating it so the car doesn't spot the difference; until then, some cars may show a warning. We'd rather tell you here than let you find out on your own.
The display-bus signals (revs, temperatures, pressure, time) work on both generations. Full OBD diagnostics are immediate on 997.2/987.2 (2009+, OBD over CAN); on 997.1/987.1 it runs over K-line and is on the roadmap.
Within the EU (Germany included) shipping is straightforward: no customs, VAT already in the price. To the UK and the US we plan to ship too, with EU VAT deducted at checkout — your local import taxes and any carrier handling fee then apply at your end. Join the waiting list with your country: where the first batch ships is decided by where the demand is.
The CockpitDial engine is generic: it reads CAN and standard OBD-II, and it isn't tied to one model. Two things are car-specific: the signal map and the mechanical fit. That's what we have done — so far — for the 997 and the 987, which are the first supported car, not the only possible one. That's why the brand has no model name in it. We don't announce cars or dates that don't exist yet: the next one comes out of real demand. If you drive something else, join the waiting list anyway, pick "Other" and tell us what it is — those votes set the order.
Once the DTC feature lands: a standard clear turns off the engine light and resets the ECU's emissions monitors — the same as any diagnostic tool. Avoid clearing codes right before an emissions test, because the monitors need driving time to complete.
The firmware is being built in the open, and the first batch opens once the prototype is validated in a car. The waiting list is the way in: members get the early bird price and batch priority.
